Red Phantoms in the Mountains
Coated(披) in fiery red, scampering among trees in the depths of the mountains, within sight for one second and gone the next, they are like phantoms(幽靈), mysterious and beautiful.
However, unlike phantoms, they are very real.
Apart from central China, where they share the same habitat with the giant panda, they also inhabit the high-altitude mountains of Nepal and Burma(緬甸).
Although they are categorized as meat eaters, they rarely actually consume meat. Instead, bamboo, fruits, seeds, and acorns(橡子) constitute their daily diet.
Despite that they share the name with their black-and-white buddies, they are actually more related to raccoons(浣熊).
They both sport thick and long ringed(環狀的) tails, don't they? Those furry tails are extremely useful when red pandas fancy a snooze(打盹), as they can serve both as a downy(毛茸茸的) blanket and a cozy pillow.
Snugly(舒適地) curled up in its warm and comfy tail, a napping red panda indeed makes a blissful sight.
We all know how the environment we live in can shape our experience and personality.
With this in mind, perhaps the serenity(寧靜) of red pandas' environment rubs off(擦掉) on their temperament, too, for they are decidedly quiet and peaceful creatures.
