萬聖節的故事 The Halloween Tree
關於萬聖節有這樣一個故事。是說有一個叫傑克的愛爾蘭人，因為他對錢特別的吝嗇，就不允許他進入天堂，而被打入地獄。但是在那裡他老是捉弄魔鬼撒旦，所以被踢出地獄，罰他提著燈籠永遠在人世裡行走。
One story about Jack， an Irishman， who was not allowed into Heaven because he was stingy with his money. So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan)， so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forever carrying a lantern.
在十月三十一日愛爾蘭的孩子們用土豆和蘿蔔製作“傑克的燈籠”，他們把中間挖掉、表面上打洞並在裡邊點上蠟燭。為村裡慶祝督伊德神的萬聖節，孩子們提著這種燈籠挨家挨戶乞討食物。這種燈籠的愛爾蘭名字是“拿燈籠的傑克”或者“傑克的燈籠”，縮寫為Jack-o'-lantern 。
Well， Irish children made Jack's lanterns on October 31st from a large potato or turnip， hollowed out with the sides having holes and lit by little candles inside. And Irish children would carry them as they went from house to house begging for food for the village Halloween festival that honored the Druid god Muck Olla. The Irish name for these lanterns was "Jack with the lantern" or "Jack of the lantern，" abbreviated as " Jack-o'-lantern" and now spelled "jack-o-lantern."
每年萬聖節前夕，孩子都會戴上奇怪的面具，穿上嚇人的服裝。大多數孩子會扮成電影中或者傳說他們喜歡的英雄或怪物。
Every Halloween children will put on strange masks and frightening costumes. Most children will make themselves become the monster or hero in the movie or legend that they like.
當他們化妝完後，他們會帶著袋子挨家挨戶去玩“不給糖就搗蛋”的遊戲。大人們就會把準備好的糖果放進他們的袋子裡。所以說，萬聖節是孩子們最喜歡的節日。
When they finish the make up, they will carry bags from house to house to play the game, “Trick or treat”. The adults will put the treat candy into their bags. Thus, Halloween is the most favorable festival for children.
不僅小孩喜歡這個節日，連大人也喜歡。大人們會在畫完妝後參加聚會。這可以給他們帶來年輕的快感。
Not only the kids like the festival, but also some grown-ups love it. They will join parties after making up. This brings them the SATisfACTion of being young.
萬聖節特色食物
萬聖節有幾樣吃的東西是必備的：南瓜派、蘋果、糖果，有的地方還會準備上等的牛羊肉。
棉花糖南瓜 Marshmallow pumpkins
棉花糖南瓜看起來並不恐怖，味道很好，尤其是放在熱可可或血腥飲料裡。拿一些白棉花糖(或者任何你能找到的顏色)，把邊緣加熱，熔在一起做成小南瓜。用食物色素和糖漿作裝飾或者讓你家的小傢伙們為你幹這個活。
Marshmallow pumpkins don’t look creepy, they taste amazing, especially in hot cocoa or bloody drink. Grab some white marshmallows (or any color you’ll find), heat the edges and fuse them together to create little pumpkins. Use food coloring and syrups to decorate your marshmallow pumpkins or let your little ones to do this job for you.
萬聖節曲奇 Halloween cookies
萬聖節曲奇餅形狀、大小、顏色各異。從南瓜、幽靈、貓頭鷹、骷髏頭和骨頭形狀到巫師帽、蝙蝠、蜘蛛和黑貓的形狀都有，現在你可以做很多萬聖節曲奇的形狀，還可以在萬聖節聚會時用。要做出最怪異的餅乾要花更多時間，但絕對值得一試。
Halloween cookies come in different shapes, sizes and colors. From pumpkins, ghosts, owls, skulls and bones to witches’ hats, bats, spiders and black cats, there are a host of Halloween cookies that you can make today or for your Halloween party. It may take a bit more time to make the spookiest cookies, but it’s well worth it.
